Preserving and Propagating Bujutsu Globally: The Modern Martial Arts Society (MMAS)
The Modern Martial Arts Society (MMAS), also known as the Kindai Bujutusu Kyokai (近代武術協会), stands as an international organization committed to the preservation and propagation of Bujutsu (武術) across the globe. The essence of MMAS lies in drawing wisdom from the past, from those who once learned and practiced Bujutsu, and utilizing this knowledge to shape the present and shape the combatives of the future. MMAS places special emphasis on the preservation of foundational bujutsu and employs Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu (西洋流 合氣武術) as a means to promote this campaign of modern combatives derived from our esteemed ancestors.
Bujutsu, the martial arts of ancient Japan, encompasses not just the physical techniques but also the philosophical, ethical, and spiritual aspects of combat. Across centuries, numerous methodologies, strategies, and fighting systems have emerged, each one shaped by the unique experiences, insights, and skills of their respective masters. At MMAS, our primary goal is to study, document, and pass on these invaluable legacies to future generations.
Through our deep commitment to preserving the foundational bujutsu, MMAS aspires to ensure that the roots of modern combatives remain connected to the rich heritage of our ancestors. By tapping into the wisdom of the past, we strive to maintain the essence of martial arts in an ever-evolving world. Our choice of Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu as the vessel for this preservation campaign is rooted in its effectiveness, adaptability, and compatibility with contemporary martial practices.
Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu, a derivative of ancient Aikijujutsu, has evolved to encompass the modern combat principles prevalent today. With its underlying philosophy of harmony and unity, Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu serves as an effective bridge between the historical and the contemporary. By integrating the lessons of the past masters with the requirements of the present era, Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu enables MMAS to propagate a form of bujutsu that is both authentic and relevant.
In order to achieve this preservation and propagation, MMAS adopts a multi-faceted approach. We promote scholarly research, organize workshops, and conduct training seminars, bringing together practitioners, researchers, and enthusiasts alike. By encouraging collaboration, knowledge exchange, and cross-cultural understanding, MMAS ensures that bujutsu's boundaries are not limited by geographical borders, but instead stretch across continents.
Moreover, MMAS endeavors to develop comprehensive curricula encompassing all aspects of bujutsu. By carefully curating and updating a curriculum that incorporates historic traditions, technical expertise, tactical analysis, and ethical values, we empower individuals to learn and train in the authentic spirit of Bujutsu. This approach promotes personal growth, physical development, and cultivates a strong moral compass, fostering not just skilled combatants but also responsible and respectful individuals.
MMAS is dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Bujutsu worldwide. The wisdom of those who learned and utilized Bujutsu before us serves as our guiding light, and through endeavors such as Seiyo-ryu Aikibujutsu, we launch a campaign to safeguard the foundational bujutsu and adapt it to the modern world. By unifying ancient philosophies with contemporary practices, MMAS strives to ensure that the legacy of bujutsu lives on, empowering future generations with the knowledge and skills passed down by our esteemed ancestors.
